Why your child should learn Spanish in elementary school

Fun Facts

Did you know that in Spain, children start elementary school, called escuela or colegio, when they are six years old. In Mexico and Colombia the school day starts very early, often at seven or eight o’clock in the morning; but it finishes at one o’clock and the children are free for the rest of the day.

School holidays, las vacaciones, are different in different parts of the Spanish-speaking world. For example in Spain and Mexico, the longest holiday is in June, July and August. But in Argentina it is over Christmas, Navidad. But of course, Christmas is the hottest time of the year in Argentina. Do you know why?

Where is Argentina?
